FGPS vs. GPS
FGGPStitle.png

Skymeter’s Financial-Grade GPS technology goes far beyond that of commercially available GPS. Navigation-grade GPS is only concerned with signal availability and is insufficient for tolling applications. FGPS must meet performance criteria to ensure that the tolls are calculated, the charges are accurate and that the motorist’s privacy is protected. These are illustrated below:

Charging Availability

FGPS must consistently charge within an acceptable span of under and over charging.

Charging Integrity

An FGPS system must minimize the user’s risk of being overcharged by the system

Tamper Protection

A FGPS meter must be resistant to tampering

Privacy Protection

FGPS systems must protect the motorist's privacy

FGPS and GPS Characteristics Comparison

In addition to meeting stringent performance criteria, FGPS technology differs from GPS technology in several key ways. Below is a comparison of the characteristics of both technologies.
