In emerging nations, transportation authorities are trying to cope with the unrelenting growth of congestion, the need to build new infrastructure while also building intelligently. Such challenging problems require equally innovative solutions.

At Skymeter, we believe the solution to transportation is not building more, but being smarter. We believe the key is information; people will make better choices when they understand their options.

The problem with transportation right now is a lack of good information and transparency. People don’t know the cost of driving; it is paid by everyone through taxes (Gas, Property, Sales and Income) largely in disregard of their actual use of the system. The person who walks or cycles subsidizes the person who drives; all of them subsidize the truck that damages the roads.

The Solution

It has been shown time and time again that people conserve when they pay for what they use. People already pay for electricity and water based on use; why not do the same for roads?

Tolling roads based on use was not feasible, nor was it practical, until now. Skymeter has developed the technology that enables road-pricing that is fair, cost-effective and private. We provide highly accurate road-use data and solutions that empower governments to take control of their transportation problems. Our goal is to become the provider of information that will drive transportation forward.
