Skymeter’s system offers full privacy and security. Our in-vehicle sensor records travel data which is sent  via secure wireless to our off-board calculator. The data we receive is anonymous -- associated only with the serial number of the in-vehicle sensor. We use this data to produce a billing feed to be forwarded to your billing operator that in turn bills the user or debits a prepaid, anonymous account. At no point does any party know where a certain user traveled.

Skymeter is an integral part of an overall road-pricing strategy that provides motorists with options beyond a simple on-board meter.  Any motorists may choose instead to buy a guest pass: a pass which permits road-use for a day, week or any extended time period. A guest pass also ensures that visiting vehicles have a way to comply without installing a meter.  Vehicles will be scanned to ensure that they have an operational, untampered Skymeter sensor (using DSRC ) or a valid guest pass (using ANPR ). Users who choose not to have either will be subject to fines.
