Data Set Features

Skymeter’s metering service turns driving activity, measured by an in-car meter and analyzed by the Skymeter gateway, into a validated list of financial transactions. The deliverable is a priced event log: a list of times, activity type, activity amount, price category, and amounts owing. The data feed from the Skymeter gateway to your billing office server can be:

• in any file format (e.g., XML, SOAP, CSV)
• over any channel (e.g., FTP, HTTP, socket)
• at any frequency (e.g., real time, batch)
• into any ERP system, such as those supplied by SAP and Oracle
• over your existing API

On-Board Meter Features

To generate the data set of transactions, an on-board meter (or other platform that meets the software hosting requirements) must be installed in the vehicle. This on-board meter reads satellite signals and calculates positions. Software installed on the on-board meter then works in a cooperative manner with the Skymeter gateway server to turn positions into financial transactions.

Skymeter is currently taking orders for January 2011 for an on-board unit that is:

• 125 x 70 x 24 mm (4.9” x 2.7” x 0.9”) in size
• 12-24V OBD2 power port
• 5V USB power port
• internal GPS & cell antenna (optional external)
• 2 x red/green LEDs for driver communication
• cell phone chip (GPRS or other networks)
• 2.4 GHz wireless
• GPS receiver
• 50,000+ charge cycle battery
• proprietary security features

On-Board Meter Accessories

To minimize cost and maximize flexibility, Skymeter has kept the core metering device simple. An number of additional features are possible as add-ons to the core platform, and can be included on customer request. The following is an example of the type of add-on hardware that could be developed upon client request:
